Would you ever slumber in seaweed?
We've covered a few fairly outlandish applications for seaweed benefits on this blog, so it's always a delight to come across a new product that feels truly imaginative. This week, we've found that in a newly developed set of bed linens that uses a cellulose fiber derived from this sea vegetable.
According to the Indian news outlet DaijiWorld.com, the eco-friendly linen company Portico New York has joined forces with the seaweed-fiber enthusiasts at Smartfiber AG in Germany to create a new line of bedding that helps people tap into the health benefits of seaweed as they sleep.
"The fibers contain active agents of seaweed, which allow a nutrient exchange between the fibers of the fabric and the skin, thus providing a long lasting effect of wellness and protection against environmental influences," the source states.
While this is certainly an innovative way to take advantage of seaweed nutrients, snuggling up in bed sheets that contain an "active agent" of any kind may not be the most appealing concept to some. With that in mind, don't forget that you can also reap the benefits of this plant for health by consuming it as dietary supplements or adding it to your favorite meals.
Seagreens® seaweed, which is not affiliated with the Portico New York endeavor, is sustainably wild-harvested in Grade A pristine waters in the Scottish Outer Hebrides and contains high stores of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Savor it as The Mineral Salt and the Culinary Ingredient, and take it daily as nutrient-rich Food Capsules.
