Dealing with food cravings — and how seaweed can help!

When it comes to food cravings, we've all been there. These thoughts tend to pop up out of nowhere at seemingly random times, taking an advantage of hungry stomachs to compel you into eating something that's likely unhealthy. You're not helpless, though! There are ways that you can get a handle on your food cravings and keep you from indulging in unhealthy eating habits. Here are a few tips from The Huffington Post:

  • It's not an emergency: This can be easy to forget when you're salivating over the thought of chocolate or ice cream, but it's important to keep in mind that a food craving is not an emergency that needs to be tended to immediately. Cravings will come and go, and the more you recognize that the feeling is only temporary, the less of a hold it will have on your life.
  • Talk it out: A study conducted in 2008 found that women who actually talked about their cravings out loud were able to better suppress them. For men, it was just the opposite: The more they verbalized their cravings, the more they ended up eating.

Believe it or not, Seagreens® seaweed can actually play a part in reducing these pesky cravings. Scientists at Sheffield Hallam University in the U.K. found that adding Seagreens to bread as a salt replacement led to greater feelings of fullness after eating — and naturally, the more full you end up feeling, the less you'll crave other food items.

Seagreens seaweed is a natural multi-nutrient whole food sustainably wild-harvested in the Grade A pristine waters of the Scottish Outer Hebrides to our Human Food Seaweed™ standards (patents pending). You can take advantage of Seagreens' minerals, trace elements and vitamin groups through all natural supplements like The Mineral Salt, The Culinary Ingredient or Food Capsules.
