Consuming seaweed in the morning will burn calories

According to a study from Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom, consuming Seagreens® seaweed baked into toast for breakfast will burn 179 calories, the equivalent of a half hour spent running on a treadmill at the gym. The research was conducted by feeding 80 overweight but healthy men Seagreens® seaweed-enriched bread in the morning. Those who participated in the study reported feeling fuller longer throughout the day, which led to less food and calorie consumption.

Burning around 100 calories each day is considered a significant amount for those trying to lose weight, the researchers noted. By consuming this seaweed early in the day, these men were benefiting health-wise. The seaweed was ground into the bread, and the participants told those at the University that they could not tell the difference between bread with seaweed in it and bread without.

So what led to so many calories being burned?

"The seaweed acts a bulking agent in the stomach giving a feeling of fullness. It has sodium in low levels but far less than salt. It is also natural, sustainable, organic and adds nutrition. So unlike most bulking agents it is not just filling something out for the sake of cheapness," said Dr. Craig Rose of The Seaweed Foundation. Dr. Rose supported the study, believing it is an important step in people looking more seriously toward seaweed as a daily source of nutrition.

Since seaweed has a long record of health benefits, Seagreens® is the perfect addition to your diet as Seagreens® The Mineral Salt, Food Capsules, the Culinary Ingredient and much more. Seagreens® is produced to Human Food Seaweed™ standards (patents pending), which underpins its nutrition, safety, sustainability and traceability.
